STRUCTURAL STEEL DESIGNER

The Structural Steel Designer will provide CAD design assistance to our in-house engineers for all structural-related projects, with the potential of assistance needed for other civil and mechanical-related projects.

EXAMPLE OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Proficient in Auto CAD, Plant 3D, Advanced Steel.

  • Preparing both rough sketches and detailed work with CAD systems.

  • Performing calculations for materials and weight limitations.

  • Communicating with engineers, and incorporating knowledge gained into drawings.

  • Preparing, reviewing and redrafting alongside the engineering team.

  • Set-up and draft redlined drawings using company standards.

  • Prepare design documents for mechanical systems, including calculations and technical specifications.

  • Maintain relationships with clients by consulting with them and assisting in lines of communication.

  • Project set-up and reviewing redlines using a mark-up system to provide quality and accurate work.

  • Communicate and coordinate efforts and ideas among peers and across divisions.

  • Develop and enhance client relationships and business growth.

  • Traveling for work to help assist with projects as needed.

  • Review submittals for conformation to design documents

  • Monitor project schedules to assure successful delivery of projects on time and on budget.

  • Represent the company and client in agency meetings to resolve questions and to plan or coordinate work.

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years CAD design experience in the civil and mechanical fields is strongly desired.

  • Able to work well within a team or independently.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication, quantitative, and interpersonal skills; and detail-oriented.

  • Strong work ethic, service-oriented, and professional in conduct and demeanor.

  • Proficient in computer skills using AutoCAD programs such as Plant 3D, Advanced Steel and Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite programs.

  • Willingness to learn new programs and software.

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

  • Strong desire to build a business and not just have a job.
